Andy, I propose you and JT for any available roles!
I hope those considering resigning (if they are) are doing it because they feel that they have not been acting in the best interests of the EP parish rather than they can't get what they want!
Thanks for the news Lockie. Good for the club as it will mean that the proposed disruption, including the closing and subsequent shrinking of the car park, will not now proceed - assuming the council abide by the poll, which I understand is technically not binding although they would be foolish to disregard such a wide margin against the project.
There should of course be nothing to prevent the council from agreeing to improve the existing playground, either from the grants they were expecting, or from the very large balances that they have accrued by overcharging the council taxpayers in the last few years.
What concerns me is that, if the report is to be believed, some councillors feel the need to resign because parish opinion went the wrong way for them. Surely their motiviation for going into local politics should have been to SERVE the community, not DICTATE to it?
It will be very interesting to learn which councillors do resign. No doubt there will be vacancies on the council soon. Anyone interested?
From the LA Gazette website today
VILLAGERS have voted almost four to one against proposals to extend East Preston Village Hall.
Voters queued in heavy rain yesterday (Wednesday, August 25) to take part in the ballot, which asked whether the parish council should be borrowing up to £600,000 in the current climate to fund the extension.
From a turnout of 23 per cent of electors, 891 (78.2 per cent) voted 'no' and 247 (21.8 per cent) voted 'yes'.
The extension would have provided additional storage space for groups using the hall, an office for the parish council staff and an extra meeting room, and there would also have been a new play area and relocated car park.
The Gazette understands there are likely to be resignations both from the village hall foundation and from the parish council over the issue.
Remember to VOTE today from 4pm.
Village Hall or Family Centre
Billy: Wicket yet to be decided upon. I will be at the ground this evening when we can make a decision on which track we will use - obviously the weather forecast will influence us.
Well done to both teams.
Just a reminder for those living in EP to vote on the proposed village hall extension tomorrow from 4pm!
Andy, which wicket are we on?
I can cut the wicket but I do not have any keys as Migz and Scott borrowed them. Migz, have you still got them?
