Update from AGM 2008

There were a few positions up for grabs at the AGM and the following members were voted into their new roles for 2008

Club Captain - Andy Reeves

Vice Captain - Sean Rebbetts

2nd XI Captain - Jon Harris

Fixture Secretary - Mike Rackham

Team Secretary - Mark Coskin

All other positions remain the same as 2007 although there is a vacancy for a Colts Manager.

Indoor Nets

Indoor Nets

Indoor nets for senior's ( all 1st XI and 2nd XI players welcome) have been arranged and will be held at The Angmering School again this year.

Nets take place from 7.45pm to 9.15pm on Friday nights in the main sports hall.

Nets will run from Friday 7th March until Friday 4th April ( there won't be nets on Good Friday 21st March).

A small charge per person will be made to cover hire costs.

The following awards were handed out at the recent club dinner.

Catching Cup - shared between, Tom Reeves, Jon Harris and Dan Williams

1st XI player of the season - Sean Rebbetts

2nd XI player of the season - Keith Chamberlain

News Update

The 2007 AGM is due to be held in early to mid January 2008, details wil be sent out shortly.

Senior nets are likely to take place again at the Angmering School from March, dates and times TBC.

There is a social night out on 14th December in EP for beer and curry, meet around 8pm in the Clockhouse.

Awards for EP!

Sean Rebbetts has won the SICL 3rd Division 1st XI award for the leading run scorer in 2007. Sean scored an impressive 579 runs which included two hundreds. A great effort by Sean in his first full year opening the batting for the 1st team and hopefully more runs next year!

The 1st XI have also won the Laurie Cheesman trophy for 2007. This award is voted for by the clubs in the 3rd Division and we achieved the highest number of votes for facilities, ground, wicket and sportsmanship (home and away).

I understand that this is the first time that we have won this trophy and it's great recognition for the club.

Well done to all involved and to those who put in many hours throughout the year.

Old EP XI vs Current EP XI - game due to start at 12.30pm.

Help and volunteers needed!

We are hoping to make the above date a "club day" at EP with plenty going on.

Hopefully we will have a BBQ after the match but will need some non-playing volunteers plus a BBQ!

Also, we will be holding a raffle and can all club members donate a prize for the raffle. Please leave at the club ahead of the 29th.

It will be a good way to round off the 2007 season.

The EP end of season dinner and awards evening takes place at the Vardar restaurant in Littlehampton on the above date.

Tickets cost £25.00 per person.

August Bank Holiday Weekend

Plenty of cricket at EP this coming weekend.

On Saturday the 1st XI are playing at home to Scaynes Hill in a massive game which will help determine who will take their place next year in the re-structured division 1. If you are not playing please come down to show your support and the bar will be open. The game starts at 1.30pm.

~~Sunday - home to Worthing Chippingdale - 2.00pm~~. Game now off

Monday - home to Arun Wanderers starting at 2.30pm.Game is on - just!

With Sunday's game now off bar revenue will be down, please come down the club Saturday and Monday.

Please note the 2nd XI game away to Arundel has been cancelled.

New League Structure for 2008

The league structure for 2008 has finally been confirmed at a meeting earlier this week where Colin attended on behalf of EP.

The structure is as follows:

There will be 22 member clubs each having a 1st team and a 2nd team (West Chiltington will join in 2008).

There will be 2 divisions of 11 sides for 1st XI's and 2nd XI's

Each team will play 16 games, playing 6 teams twice and 4 teams only once.

It is likely that the above format will only be for 2008 and it's hoped that more clubs will join to enable a 3 division league in 2009.It's not an ideal situation next year but at least league cricket will take place, the league will decide on which teams we only play once by the free dates requested by the clubs in 2008.

The 1st XI need to finish in the top 6 of their current division ( division 3 2007) to play in division 1 in 2008. The clubs that finish 2007 in the bottom two places of division 3 will play in division 2 in 2008.

The 2nd XI will play in division 1 in 2008 irrespective of where they finish this season.

It's important for the club that the 1st XI finish in the top 6 this season so they can take their place in division 1 next year, let's all pull together for the remaining 4 league games.

More Touring Games!

We have two more touring matches at EP coming up soon which are not in the fixture card.

On Tuesday 31st July we are playing Jaguar Cars starting at 2.30pm.

On Friday 3rd August we are playing Old Woking and this game will start at 1.30pm.

Sunday 5th August we are playing Dymchurch and the game will start at 1.00pm.

Please let Tom and J-Haz know if you wish to play.

Please also keep an eye out for possible changes to the start times for these games.
